All Back to the Future fans will be disappointed by this recent report. According to The Los Angeles Times, time travel is in fact impossible. Physicists at the Hong Kong University of Technology and Science have just proved that no machine will ever allow a person to travel through time.
The findings are concrete, and although we wish it wasn’t so, this type of travel is beyond the limits of the physical laws of the universe. Although it always seemed that time exploration belonged in the fantasy world, 10 years ago, some scientists began to believe time travel might actually be possible. However, the idea that a single photon could exceed the speed of light was proven unattainable, and with it, the possibility of time travel was no more.
In a study published in the peer reviewed scientific journal Physical Review Letters, Shengwang Du and his team discovered what we all feared. Du states that: "By showing that single photons cannot travel faster than the speed of light, our results bring a closure to the debate on the true speed of information carried by a single photon." Even though reality says we can’t time travel, we can still investigate the past and future through movies, photos, experience, and our own imaginations!
